GPS Jammers increasingly used in car & farm equipment theft
New figures show that as well as being used to steal cars, GPS Jammers are also being used in the theft of Agricultural machinery. We all do it – fit a tracker device to our pride and joy – because insurance companies insist and it makes sense. After all, a simple call to the tracker company and the boys in blue can pin down your lost love.
AT&T Labs and Carnegie Mellon University have developed a new GPS-enabled steering wheel prototype that incporporates haptic technology. For those who need a quick refresher, haptic technology is a feedback system that uses vibrations to provide alerts, for example vibrating mobile 'phones or your games console controller. Here the tech is used to alert drivers when navigation maneuvers are approaching, with the steering wheel syncing with GPS-enabled computer systems.
The Kia Niro Concept (pictured) debuts at Frankfurt as a pointer to a new compact SUV
Earlier this month we had a teaser from Kia for a new compact urban SUV heading for a debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and here its is – the Kia Niro Concept. Kia has obviously been careful with its concept naming this time after the storm in a teacup response to the Kia Provo last year, with a name that shouts ‘Famous Actor’ rather than ‘Famous Terrorist’. Sensible move.
